I agree with Foss that there needs to be a reform in the criminal justice system in America. The focus should be more on the Prosecutors who have so much power over the fates of the offenders. Rather than throwing a kid in jail and giving them a criminal record, the focus needs to be on how to get these people back on their feet, because someone who is given a criminal record is more likely to commit more crimes, and wind up in jail where they started. Criminals should be given opportunities for success, rather than receiving punishment, and this is a power that can be given to the prosecutors.

This relates to the American dream because it is an example of how corrupted the criminal justice system is. America is the most incarcerated nation on the planet, and a lot of the reason behind that is the punishment given to the criminals. In order to make America a safer place, the crimes committed need to be addressed in an appropriate manner, because if a criminal is simply punished and thrown in prison rather than given a chance to rise above their misdemeanors, then they will repeat their crimes and continue to wind up in jail. In order to change the incarceration rate of America, prosecutors need to be trained differently and given certain abilities to help the offenders.
